CALCULATION OF STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY AND OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT FROM MECHANICAL ANALYSIS, SHRINKAGE FACTORS, AND PLASTICITY INDEX

AN EMPIRICAL METHOD OF CALCULATING STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY AND OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT WITH THE DATA OBTAINED FROM THE COMMON SOIL INDICATOR TESTS IS DESCRIBED. THE CALCULATION PROCEDURE OFFERS THE POSSIBILTY OF ELIMINATING MUCH OF THE TIME AND LABOR INVOLVED IN THE STANDARD PROCTOR LABORATORY METHOD AND APPEARS TO GIVE RESULTS SUFFICIENTLY ACCURATE FOR MANY ENGINEERING PURPOSES. /AUTHOR/
