DISCUSSION OF EFFECTS OF LOADING ON TRIAXIAL RESULTS

THE DISCUSSER COMPLIMENTS THE AUTHOR'S PAPER AND THE DEMONSTRATION OF THE ADVANTAGES OF THE STRESS CONTROLLED TEST OVER THE STRAIN CONTROLLED TEST BEFORE ULTIMATE STRENGTH IS ATTAINED. VIRTUES POINTED OUT OF A TWO-PHASE SHEAR TEST LED TO DEVELOPMENT OF A COMBINED STRESS AND STRAIN CONTROLLED SHEAR BOX TEST WHICH IS PRESENTED PICTORIALLY. THIS WILL PROVIDE A TWO-PHASE SHEAR TEST. BY DETERMINING THE DRAINED STRENGTH OF PLASTIC CONCRETE, THE POSSIBILITY OF CORRELATING THIS STRENGTH WITH THE STRENGTH OF THE HARDENED CONCRETE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. IT IS HOPED THAT THIS WILL SERVE AS A WORKABILITY TEST FOR MEASURING THE CONSISTENCY OF PLASTIC CONCRETE AS DEFINED BY ITS MOBILITY.
