SOLAS III: A NEW PORTABLE RADIO EQUIPMENT FOR SURVIVAL CRAFT
A new model of portable radio equipment for use in marine survival craft has been developed to satisfy the ever increasing requirements put forward by safety of life at sea conventions. This new model, the SOLAS III, is described at length, with consideration given to both the transmitter and the receiver design. Several properties of the radio are discussed, among them its watertight capability, its capacity to withstand damage when dropped from a height of 20 meters to the water, and its ability to float and support a man in the water.
