THE "IN-SITU" FOUNDATION SOIL TEST METHOD: MENARD PRESSIOMETER (IN GERMAN)

THE USE OF THE EXISTING PRESSIOMETER MEASURING INSTRUMENTS TO DETERMINE THE DEFORMATION AND ELASTICITY MODULI AND CREEP AND PRESSURE LIMITS OF SOILS IS DESCRIBED. THESE VALUES ENABLE THE ANGLE OF INTERNAL FRICTION, COHESION AND COMPRESSION MODULI, AND THE PROPERTIES OF ROCKS TO BE DETERMINED. RESULTS OF THE PRESSIOMETER MEASUREMENTS ALSO ENABLE THE STABILITY AND SETTLEMENT OF A FOUNDATION TO BE PREDICTED MORE ACCURATELY. THE USE OF THE PRESSIOMETER MEASURING PRINCIPLE FOR STRESS MEASUREMENT IS ALSO OUTLINED. /FG/RRL/
