THE LCPC LYSIMETER STUDIES OF WATER MOVEMENTS IN A MODEL CARRIAGEWAY, USING GAMMA RAY TECHNIQUE (FRENCH)

THE METHOD HAS BEEN APPLIED OF MEASURING DENSITY BY MEANS OF GAMA-RAY TECHNIQUE TO THE STUDY OF VARIATIONS IN MOISTURE AT A GIVEN LEVEL OF A LYSIMETER CONTAINING A PORTION OF CARRIAGEWAY SURFACE (PORUS SURFACING) WHICH HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO THE PARISIAN CLIMATE. AFTER REFERRING TO THE PRINCIPLE OF MEASUREMENT AND PUTTING FORWARD SIMPLIFYING HYPOTHESES CONCERNING THE GEOMETRIC VOLUME THROUGH WHICH DIRECT RADIATION PASSES, A DESCRIPTION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE RECORDING OF IMPULSES TRANSMITTED BY THE PHOTO- MULTIPLIER IS GIVEN. THIS ENABLES THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THE VARIATIONS IN THE MOISTURE CONTENT AT A GIVEN LEVEL, THE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL AND FLOW OF THE DRAINAGE LAYER. AN OPTIMISTIC VIEW IS EXPRESSED ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF IN-SITU INVESTIGATIONS INTO VARIATIONS OF THE MOISTURE CONTENT BY MEANS OF GAMMA-RAY TECHNIQUES. /LCPC/RRL/
