Characteristics of road travel in Queensland 1973
In 1963 foldvary undertook a survey of road travel in Queensland by sending a questionnaire to sampled vehicle owners with their vehicle registration renewal notices. These persons were asked to supply information on a particular day's travel which occurred after their receipt of the questionnaire. The survey was repeated in 1973 by the Main Roads Department with major variations aimed at increasing the accuracy and obtaining additional information relating to the vehicle, its driver and other occupants and particulars of individual trips by geographical regions of Queensland. This paper describes the variations and gives some results obtained from the survey and relates these to road accidents (a).
