Further studies of the tensile fatigue of soil cement
This report describes a series of tensile fatigue tests on two clay cement mixtures and a number of fatigue curves has been reproduced. The effects of changes in the cement content, the moulding moisture content, the density and the testing atmosphere have been investigated. An attempt to relate the fatigue behaviour of the clay cement mixtures to the development and propagation of internal cracks proved unsuccessful. It was concluded that the freeze drying of clay cement and its impregnation with epoxy resin does not produce a suitable specimen for studies of internal cracking (a).
