The reproducibility of asphaltic concrete testing procedures and its effect on the interpretation of results
In the testing of asphaltic concrete for the purpose of production control, acceptance, or investigation, anomalous results are frequently obtained indicating possible variability in the testing procedures involved. A considerable range of information from published papers, laboratory investigations and production testing is investigated and analysed to establish testing reproducibility. The results obtained indicate the necessity of dealing with such testing by statistical methods and accordingly an approach to specifications and production control is suggested (A).
