Advanced suspension design and chassis tuning
Basically, this paper deals with the building and tuning of sophisticated chassis and suspensions. The main emphasis is on motor racing, but the material is completely relevant to the design of "ordinary" motor vehicles. The paper starts with the fundamentals in building a fast car that will be safe and competitive - ie, the initial design and requirements. It then defines the steps that must be taken to turn a "good" car into a "great" car. Starting with the requirements for a vehicle's roll centre, it then deals with the building in and adjustment of such factors as scrub radius, rear suspension anti squat, front suspension anti dive, springing and shock absorbers.
