Techniques for better paving

The modern equipment available today enables a first class job to be completed rapidly and economically. The introduction of the hydrostatic transmission eliminates the shocks caused by engaging and changing gears. The use of automatic levelling equipment reduces operator fatigue errors, allowing precise and smooth control of levels. High production outputs reduce stoppages at the paver, which in turn improves the riding characteristics of the mat. All of these changes in technology and technique have been wrought to meet new standards and to reduce costs to the community by providing a safer surface (a).
