Inner urban traffic management: traffic restriction measures in residential streets
In recent years, there has been much pressure on councils from ratepayers to minimise vehicular traffic in residential areas. The arguments put forward centre around the proposition that present day traffic volumes cause high noise, accidents, speed and exhaust pollution levels which are undesirable in residential areas. Consequently, there is a lowering of the living standards enjoyed in the past and also property values (a).
