Low cost high value traffic management schemes
It is necessary to emphasize that traffic management improvement schemes need not be high cost major projects. Today the emphasis is on low cost high benefit techniques and these can include improved signing, channelisation, traffic diversion devices, clearways etc. In evaluating a programme for improvements, they should meet the following criteria: expenditure should provide positive benefits; capable of being staged if necessary; compatible with other schemes at local and state levels (a).
