Report on julia creek culvert investigation
An investigation is being carried out to determine the performance of culverts in expansive clay areas where extremes of wet and dry conditions are experienced. To date, a major part of the investigation has been a detailed investigation of the performance of four culverts located approximately 10 miles west of julia creek along the flinders highway. Two of the culverts are of a conventional design (slab base) while the other two are of an experimental design (foundation piers). This report gives the results of the relative movements that have occurred between the culvert and the adjacent pavement over a period of two years (a).
