Study of utility pole collisions - comprising a report of phase 1, review and the proposal for phase 2, research

A review of accident statistics has shown that utility pole collisions contribute 6% of all road accident fatalities, and 4.6% of all road accident injuries, resulting in an annual loss at around $15 million. The report which follows contains a review of current loss reduction measures associated with utility pole collisions, cost effectiveness analysis methods, local and overseas accident statistics and current road accident statistical models. A proposal for a program to reduce the losses associated with utility pole collisions is presented in the first section (a). Report for Australia Department of Transport.
