Princes highway - 1976
The nrma survey team carried out an 'inventory' survey of the princes highway between the 12th and 16th July, 1976. The princes highway forms part of national route no 1 and extends from the intersection of city road and broadway, chippendale, 3.2Km south west of Sydney to a fixed point near st kilda junction, Melbourne. The survey showed that the highway is far from this standard south of kiama. Recent and current extensive construction north of dapto has provided freeway standard road for some distance, although the highway is often congested within the metropolitan area of Sydney. Considerable upgrading is required south of kiama to produce a highway of adequate standard (a).
