Design of flexible pavements for airfields

This paper outlines the method used by the department for the design of flexible pavements which is based on the CBR design approach originally developed by the US Corps of Engineers. It also gives an indication of the magnitude of aircraft loadings and discusses the types of pavement generally provided for airfields in Australia to meet these loadings (a).
