Information storage and retrieval systems - a personal approach

In this brief introduction to personal indexing systems, what is meant by a system is defined and it is indicated what such a system should ideally do. Considerations to be taken into account when assessing various indexes available for personal use are outlined, and a brief examination is made of some of the systems that can be used, pointing out their various advantages and disadvantages. Finally, a coordinate indexing system is described, hopefully showing how the system can be of great assistance not only to researchers but to all those who have a need to store and access their own documents and references.
