The outlook for Australian passenger transport to 1983
The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of trends in the levels of use of Australian urban, non urban domestic and international passenger transport, and to explore the outlook for the next five years for these segments of the transport industry. The paper attempts to present evidence of the effect of substantial changes in the rate of population growth and living standards in Australia, and to predict where change in the future is likely to occur. There has been an increase in the overall demand for urban passenger transport, but the composition of demand between modes has changed.
