Metropolitan Adelaide data base study, phase 1 report: travel surveys and data collection
The study was commissioned jointly by the South Australia Department of Transport and South Australia Highways Department. The objectives of the study are broadly as follows: 1) the collection and assembly of up to date data sets describing current travel characteristics within metropolitan Adelaide 2) the development of a range of analytical models and procedures to enable the quantitative aspects of future transport planning for Adelaide to be undertaken on a sound basis. Sections 2-6 describe the study area and its zoning, the planning conduct and outline results of the household interview survey, the conduct of a roadside interview survey on the cordon of the internal study area, conduct of a government and commercial vehicle survey, and the preparation of coded representations of the highway and public transport networks for analysis.
