The report assesses and reports on the total road needs for Australia for the period 1979-80 to 1982-83, the condition of the Australian road network and changes to it over the past five years in the light of expenditure undertaken by all levels of government, trends in the levels and patterns of funding of road programs by the different levels of government in Australia, and the effects of alternative levels of total future road funding from all sources.
