Design of road and street networks
This section reviews residential street network design. The objectives of the design process - safety, function, amenity and economy - are introduced, and the means (especially the traffic engineering means) of achieving these are discussed. The key concepts of connectivity and environmental capacity are introduced, and their application to both new developments and existing networks is discussed.
