Transport (deregulation) bill 1980

The Victorian government has now introduced into parliament its foreshadowed bill to amend the various transport acts including transport regulation act, commercial goods vehicles act and the motor car act to effect their announced policy of deregulation of transport within the state. In addition, the railways act is to be amended to remove from the railways system the obligation to be a common carrier which, in effect, means that they are currently obligated to carry all freight offered to them.
