Asphalt (hot mixed) specification

The recently issued Australian standard AS 2150-1978 asphalt (hot mixed) is the first of a number of publications on asphalt to be issued by the Standards Association of Australia. The standard covers the manufacture and transport of hot mix asphalt but does not deal with such things as laying and compaction, cold mixes, etc. Before AS 2150-1978 can be used as a specification for any work it is essential for the specifier to complete appendix j - recommended form for schedule of job requirements. The schedule is in three parts: part 1 is general job details - which must be completed for all jobs; part 2 is performance method - this must be completed in addition to part 1 when the supplier is accepting responsibility for the mix design; and part 3 is prescription method - this must be completed when the purchaser assumes responsibility for the design of the mix.
