A study of travel linkages: implications for urban transport planning

This paper outlines the importance of trip linking on the journey home from work, and the importance of relating it to the journey to work. It presents some empirical evidence from Canberra to quantify the significance of trip linking. Some implications for transport planning and policy, and for transport modelling, are discussed. These principally relate to trip generation, mode choice and car pooling.
