Research projects budgeted at ARRB during the 1980-81 financial year
This report documents research projects, activities and feasibility studies budgeted at the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) during the 1980-81 financial year. A listing of the status of all research projects, activities and feasibility studies is provided. The data is presented in the form used in ARRB's computer based project reporting system (known as form 7). Each project has a unique number, 000 to 799 for research projects, 800-999 for activities, and 1000 onwards for feasibility studies. Form 7s are part of the ARRB information system and discussed in ARRB technical manual atm 7, the ARRB information system by lay, mg, 1979. Each form 7 includes information on the title, project leader, aims, advisors and advisory committees for the project, followed by administrative details and a summary of the program, progress made, findings and publications produced since the entry was last updated. The final section of the form 7 records the most recent ARRB directors' decision, the recommendations of the advisory committees and a recommendation to the next directors' meeting. It is important to note that form 7s provide only recent information and that such sources as ARRB administrative manual aam.3 "Collected ARRB research", the annual index 'Australian road research in progress' and the IRRD data base, need to be consulted to obtain more extensive information on projects. Current information on projects, activities and feasibility studies is also available in the ARRB annual report. The current software for the form 7 data base does not enable automatic page numbering or removal of blank lines during printing. The main pagination of this report is by project numbers, with individual pages of project entries numbered in the form 118-1, 118-2, 118-3. The introduction of a data base management system on the ARRB computer should allow for improvements to many features of future editions of this report (a).
