Residential location choice study: coding details and initial analysis

This report forms part of Australian Road Research Board project 301 which investigates the effects of transport policy decisions on residential location choice. It presents the details of the coding procedure and the format used to store the data obtained from the questionnaire. The report also presents a general overview of the data obtained from the questionnaire. This overview looks at the response to each question. Generally the response was found to be good, with few questions receiving a high non response rate. Due to the nature of the sample - new residents in outer suburban areas - it was not feasible to investigate any biases in the sample population by comparing it with other data sources. However, a comparison of the results obtained from comparable questions in the survey indicated that the results obtained were consistent and reliable.
