Reduced fuel consumption and vehicle emissions through traffic management - a warning
The paper examines the impacts of traffic management measures used in Sydney, with particular reference to fuel consumption and pollution, and warns of the unpredictability of the ultimate impact because of urban system reaction. The paper also indicates the danger of traffic management competing with the longer term aims of city planning to reduce fuel consumption and pollution and its preferable use as a supportive technique to transport and urban planning strategies with these objectives (a). This paper is no 80016.
