Determination of mass moduli for slope design

Classification of rock masses is correlated with in situ moduli measured from jacking tests and theoretically derived moduli using composite elastic theory. A means of improving the in situ moduli by rock bolting is then considered. In order to assess the effectiveness of the remedial measure pseudo elastic theory is used to analyse the specific problem of slope stability. The results of the moduli changes due to rock bolts are checked by in situ jacking tests (a).
