Pollution emission rates of New Zealand vehicles

In this study emission rates of the main components of vehicle emissions such as carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, particulates PM-10, aromatic hydrocarbons including benzene, styrene, toluene and (m-o-p)xylene, as well as micro emission components such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, were determined using air quality monitoring data from Mt Victoria and Lyttelton Tunnels. The data produced is of the form of a vehicle emission rate (factor), expressed as a mass amount of pollutant emitted by individual vehicle or traffic stream per unit of the distance or time.
