DURABILITY AND STRENGTH CHARACTERISTICS OF LIME-FLYASH-SOIL MIXTURES FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

THE OBJECT WAS TO ASSESS THE SUITABILITY OF LOCAL SOILS FOR STABILIZATION WITH LIME AND FLYASH, THE RATIOS OF WHICH WERE DETERMINED BY USING THE UNCONFINED COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF THE TEST SPECIMENS. THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE MIXTURES WAS STUDIED IN WATER IMMERSION AND FREEZING-THAWING TESTS. TEST SECTIONS WERE LAID USING THE MIXES OF SELECTED PROPORTIONS. FIELD CBR AND PLATE BEARING TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT IN WHICH THE TEST SECTIONS SHOWED SEMIRIGID CHARACTERISTICS AND IMPROVEMENT IN LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY. /RRL/
