Collision reconstruction

This paper looks at accident investigation with reference to the five generally accepted levels of collision investigation amongst those who are involved in this sphere of work. Particular reference to the level of "reconstruction" will be made and the considerations involved for those who embark on a "reconstruction" of a motor vehicle collision. The reasons for embarking on this level of investigation will be canvassed and the different applications of the end results considered. The information required for a proper "reconstruction" will be outlined and the problems of obtaining high quality information highlighted. The end result of a reconstruction will be looked at with reference to a case study [not included in the paper] and the implications of the necessity of a strict regard to "professional ethics" to ensure that the answer is the right one and not just the most desirable one.
