Quality assurance: certification must not be the target

For too long now, quality assurance has been looked upon as the answer to all problems within an organisation. When certification is the sole objective of a QA program, the probability of getting a 'lousy' QA system is high. Yet, when the principles of QA are used with the primary objective of system improvement, productive and beneficial results flow. This paper will investigate how to achieve effective, improved systems as well as QA certification.
