WATER AT WORK--CLEANING AND CUTTING
Due to the development of high pressure pumps (10,000 lbs/sq. in.) and suitable nozzles, the application of advance water jetting systems for cleaning and cutting in the marine industry is now possible. The article deals with the fundamentals of cleaning and cutting, the equipment used, and some of the jobs it will do, such as: marine growth and paint removal, marine scale removal to bare metal, de-scaling decks, and cleaning boiler uptakes and economizers. In addition, there are tables and diagrams showing pressures and equipment. Benefits of using a water jetting system are also discussed.
