CONCEPTS IN DREDGE AUTOMATION
The solution to the problem of overdredging and underdredging is a radio gauge level control, called the levelstat system. The system monitors the tides, transmits the results to a dredge, and automatically adjusts the dredging depth. The Autoswing control handles all control functions once the dredge has commenced its swing. The Auto-Cut control automatically drops the dredge ladder the required distance at the end of each swing. All the above devices can be integrated into one computerized unit, run by a program. The computer allows for an alarm system which checks the operation of the dredge.
