This article is a review of some 20 of the leading makes of high-powered medium-speed diesel engines having outputs of 500 bhp per cylinder and above, currently in production or under development world-wide. The unique features of each type of engine are described, along with cross-sectional drawings and a list of particulars concerning performances, pressure charging and scavenging systems, lubrication systems, fuel injection systems, dimensions, and weights of engines and components.
