DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS

THE STUDY DISCUSSES THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS SUCH AS TRAFFIC DELAYS, PERCENTAGE OF VEHICLES STOPPED, LOAD FACTOR, PEAK HOUR FACTOR, AND DEGREE OF SATURATION IN RELATION TO THE LEVEL OF SERVICE FOR VARIOUS CLASSES OF ROADS. RESULTS ARE PRESENTED BASED UPON FIELD STUDIES CARRIED OUT ON APPROACHES TO SIGNALIZED ROAD INTERSECTIONS IN THE DELHI URBAN AREA. /TRRL/
