Noise control of mechanical parking systems

Mechanical car parking systems have been widely introduced to solve the shortage problems of parking spaces in urban areas. The systems are divided into two categories; one is the independent structure type and the other is the built-in type. Both systems have inherent acoustical problems. The former is infrasonic sound radiated outside from the wall of structures and the latter is the structure borne noise propagated to adjacent rooms inside the buildings. The recent increase in installations of mechanical parking system to sensitive buildings such as concert halls and resort condominiums requires more severe consideration of noise problems.
