Recycling by cement stabilisation for State road authorities

This paper provides an overview of the process of recycling by cement stabilisation, a treatment considered appropriate for a significant proportion of the vast amount of rehabilitation work faced State Road Authorities. Cost comparisons, recycling options, design constraints and construction options are provided. Development requirements for equipment, laboratory test procedures, specifications and binder technology are discussed. Cement stabilisation makes full use of existing pavement materials and provides a pavement highly insensitive to moisture variations with substantial economic benefits in this time of limited road funding.
