Practical design criteria for freeway lighting
The design of a freeway lighting installation requires more effort than the calculation of luminaire type, quantities, spacing, mounting height and photometric settings. Major planning and design inputs are required to establish an installation which will ensure an acceptable performance throughout the lifetime of the installation. Some factors to be considered include the safety aspects, mechanical and structural properties, reticulation system, flexibility and aesthetics of the installation.
