Silica fume concrete

This report addresses various matters relating to silica fume concretes. The background as presented includes technical details on the nature of silica fume and a review of overseas developments pertaining to its use in concrete. A programme of laboratory testing has been undertaken, focussing in the main on the properties of concrete mixes containing a silica fume material of Australian origin. Associated performance data and other findings are discussed. Comments are offered with regard to the scope for the use of silica fume concrete in New Zealand (A).
