The recreation potential of car parking areas
Recognition of the need to utilise space more effectively and efficiently has resulted in a trend towards the multiple use of facilities. Although largely unexplored, car parking areas have the capacity to accommodate a range of recreational activities in a cost-effective manner. Examples of the provision for recreational activities within car parking areas, and the potential benefits which might accrue to car park providers, planning authorities and the community form the subject of this paper (A).
