MAGNETIZATION OF MUD. NEW METHOD OF CONSOLIDATING ALLUVIAL CLAY SOIL /IN RUSSIAN/

CLAY SOIL CONTAINS FERROMAGNETIC SUBSTANCES WHICH CAN BE MAGNETIZED DURING THE TRANSPORT OF CLAY MUD IN TUBULAR PIPES. THIS TREATMENT GIVES BETWEEN 1.5 TIMES AND TWICE THE AMOUNT OF ALLUVIAL SOIL. THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL EXPERIMENTS HAVE SHOWN THAT A BIPOLAR SOLENOID IS THE MOST SIMPLE AND ECONOMICAL DEVICE FOR THE MAGNETIZATION OF CLAY MUD. FOR AN EXTRA SPENDING OF 0.5 PERCENT PER CUBIC METER IT IS POSSIBLE TO CONSIDERABLE INCREASE THE STRENGTH OF ALLUVIAL SOIL AND REDUCE THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION BY 8 TO 12 PERCENT. /LCPC/RRL/
