EFFECT OF CERTAIN CHEMICALS ON THE STRENGTH OF SOIL CEMENTS IN THE PRESENCE OF ORGANIC MATERIALS

WHEN STABILIZING SAND AND SILT WITH ADDITION OF IMPURITIES IN THE FORM OF SACCHAROSE, VARIOUS CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES HAVE A BENEFICIAL EFFECT ON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AT 7 DAYS. A SIMILAR BEHAVIOR IS ESTABLISHED FOR PORTLAND CEMENT MIXED WITH SAND CONTAINING SACCHAROSE. WITH BLAST FURNACE SLAG CEMENT THE SAME CHEMICALS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SODIUM AND CALCIUM METASILICATE, SHOW NO REACTION WITH SAND CONTAINING NATURAL ORGANIC MATERIALS.
