Application of calcined clay as aggregate for asphalt pavement and surface treatment
This research attempted to study the possibility of using calcined clay as a coarse aggregate in asphalt pavement and the surface treatment on the real road surface. The road test sections were constructed on the secondary road in the central part of Thailand. The skid resistance value and the surface texture depth of the pavement using calcined clay and limestone as coarse aggregate, were measured by the standard method. It was found that the calcined clay aggregate could be used as an ordinary asphalt pavement and surface treatment. An average higher skid resistance and a deeper surface texture depth of the test sections using calcined clay aggregate were found when compared to neighbouring test sections using limestone (a).
