SLOPE STABILITY AND FOUNDATION INVESTIGATION

THESE NOTES HAVE BEEN PREPARED FOR THE SHORT COURSE ON SLOPE STABILITY AND FOUNDATION INVESTIGATION, PRESENTED BY THE INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORTATION AND TRAFFIC ENGINEERING AND UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA EXTENSION. THEY ARE INTENDED TO ACQUAINT PRACTICING HIGHWAY ENGINEERS WITH CURRENT METHODS OF DESIGNS, CONSTRUCTION, AND MAINTENANCE OF STABLE CUT SLOPES. IT IS HOPED THAT THEY MAY ALSO CONSITITUTE A SORT OF HIGHWAY FOUNDATION MANUAL WHICH WILL ASSIST THE PRACTICING ENGINEERING IN APPLYING RATIONAL METHODS TO SOIL MECHANICS PROBLEMS WITHIN THE SUBJECT AREA. /AUTHOR/
