TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION SYSTEM

An information system has been developed for storing and retrieving freight rate data and for selecting the lowest rate for a given shipment or the optimum transportation ship and route for a future shipment. The system stores data from selected tariffs for any origin, destination or commodity applicable to shipments in a complex multitariff, multi-mode storage environment. Processing programs used for rate retrieval and freight charge calculation are described.
