COLOR AIRPHOTOS FOR TERRAIN ANALYSIS IN MAINE

THREE TYPES OF AERIAL COLOR FILM WERE EVALUATED FOR THIS STUDY. EKTACHROME INFRARED AERO POSITIVE TRANSPARENCIES WERE CONSIDERED BEST FOR TERRAIN STUDIES FOR HIGHWAY ENGINEERING PURPOSES IN MAINE. DETERMINATION WAS MADE OF THE COMPARATIVE AMOUNT OF SOILS AND DRAINAGE INFORMATION THAT COULD BE EXTRACTED FROM SEVERAL TYPES OF COLOR AND BLACK AND WHITE FILMS. EKTACHROME INFRARED AERO IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE BEST FOR SOILS AND DRAINAGE STUDIES. THE RESOLUTION AND DEFINITION OF NATURAL COLOR AND INFRARED COLOR TRANSPARENCIES ARE SUPERIOR TO PAPER COLOR PRINTS MADE FROM EKTACHROME MS AEROGRAPHIC FILM. SUFFICIENT ADDITONAL INFORMATION CAN BE GAINED FROM THE EKTACHROME INFRARED AERO POSITIVE TRANSPARENCIES TO JUSTIFY THE ADDITIONAL COST.
