STUDY ON THE OME-DIMENSIONAL CONSOLIDATION AND THE SHEAR STRENGTH CHARACTERS OF FULLY-SATURATED CLAY, IN TERMS OF EFFECTIVE STRESS

THE CHANGE IN LATERAL STRESS AND THE BEHAVIOUR OF EXCESS PORE-WATER PRESSURE WERE STUDIED, AND THE EFFECTIVE STRESS PATH, THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE VOLUME CHANGE AND THE EFFECTIVE STRESS, AND THE SETTLEMENT IN ONE-DIMENSIONAL CONSOLIDATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. A SERIES OF CONSOLIDATED- UNDRAINED SHEAR TESTS WITH PORE PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS WERE PERFORMED AND THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN. A CONVENTIONAL TRIAXIAL APPARATUS WITH A LATERAL STRAIN INDICATOR WAS USED. /RRL/
