VEHICLE-MILES OF TRAVEL IN THE STUDY AREA' A SECOND ESTIMATE

A SECOND TRAFFIC COUNT PROGRAM WAS COMPLETED OF THE VEHICLE-MILES OF TRAVEL IN THE CATS STUDY AREA, AND IS COMPARED TO A COUNT MADE IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE TWO SAMPLES WERE BASICALLY THE SAME. COMPARISONS WERE MADE ON' THE CATS CLASSIFICATION SCHEME, AVERAGE COUNTS AND PEAK HOUR PERCENTS BY RING, GROWTH OF TRAVEL BY RING, VEHICLE-MILES OF TRAVEL BY UNITS OF LAND AREA, FLOOR AREA, AND POPULATION, BY RING, AND INDEPENDENT ESTIMATE OF TOTAL VEHICLE-MILES OF TRAVEL IN THE STUDY AREA.
