MOVING ALASKAN OIL INTO THE US WILL REQUIRE MANY US BUILT TANKERS

The major routes studied as alternative means of transporting crude from the North Slope to United States markets and the likely usage of tankers in moving oil into these markets are outlined. It is concluded that the United States will have to build a fleet of new, large, efficient ships, some of which need to be especially designed for work in the far north.
